Bulgaria to be supplied with natural gas through Greece

At an official ceremony in Thessaloniki, Greece, the construction of the Trans-Adriatic gas pipeline, part of the Southern Gas Corridor, was launched.

Bulgaria-Greece pipeline is designed with technical capacity from 3 to 5 billion m3/year, with the possibility of greater extension. It is planned that the pipeline enters commercial operation in mid-2018.

The project for the construction of the Southern Gas Corridor is planned to be the fourth big axis for gas supply to the European Union. Its main objective is to improve EU security of supply - it will be a direct connection between the EU gas market and one of the largest deposits of natural gas worldwide- the one of the Caspian Sea and Middle East Basin.
