Strengthening the Regional Energy Cooperation
In Budapest, a meeting of the High Level Group for Gas Interconnection Central and Southeastern Europe has been held. The main emphasis during the talks was the strengthening of the regional cooperation of the countries of Central and Eastern Europe as well as ensuring the security and diversification of gas and power supplies.
The group adopted a joint declaration to build a "vertical corridor" for natural gas connecting Greece, Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary, ensuring uninterrupted two-way flows.
Additionally, a memorandum between gas operators in Bulgaria, Greece, Romania and Ukraine has been signed to provide the technical and commercial prerequisites for the implementation of bidirectional supply of natural gas through the Trans-Balkan pipeline until 2019.
