Gas Compressor Station "Lozenets" Enters into Operation

After the start of operation of compressor station "Ihtiman" in October 2015, today "Lozenets" followed. The reconstruction is part of a project, amounting of over 200 million leva, including modernization of four compressor stations - "Strandja", "Petrich", "Lozenets", and "Ihtiman", through integration of low-emission gas turbo compressor aggregates. Compressor stations "Strandzha" and "Petrich" will be upgraded and start operation later this year.

Compressor station "Lozenets" is included in the transit gas pipeline to Turkey, Greece and Macedonia passing through Bulgarian territory. The project includes the expansion of the existing site and the installation of two new gas turbine compressor units, in addition to the existing equipment, which increases the power of the combustion plant. The modernization of facilities is performed by "GBS" and delivery of the equipment - by the American company "Solar Turbines". The cost of the reconstruction of the compressor station "Lozenets" amounted to nearly 70 million leva.

With the implementation of the modernization, the four compressor stations will become in line with European environmental requirements and will increase the operational safety.
