Parliament adopted amendments to the Energy Act

To stabilize the financial situation of the energy sector, to balance the relations in the sector, and to ensure the independence of the Regulator in favor of consumers - these are the main objectives of the changes in the Energy Act, which were approved at second reading by the Parliament.

Members of the Regulator will be elected by the National Assembly. The Regulator shall publish on its website additional information.

Thermal power plants which do not produce electricity in a highly efficient way and the so called "industrial plants" will be excluded from the energy mix. The electricity they generate in excess of the Regulator's quota will not be purchased at preferential prices .
